Rene Guelly w swym wstępie do katalogu wystawy z 1945 roku określa twórczość malarza jako automatyzm psychiczny lub improwizację psychiczną. Automatyzm, zapis, metoda (czy stan automatyzmu psychicznego) opisana przez Andre Bretona w 1912 roku praktykowana była przez grupę poetów. W wykorzystywanych tą metodą obrazach postacie, przedmioty, kolory, znaki, etc. zastawione są ze sobą w konfiguracjach nie występujących na jawie.
Ja staram się udowodnić, że takie konfiguracje psychiczne są adekwatne do tego co spotykamy w rzeczywistości.
